Working Vertically

I just read an interesting article about Anish Kapoor's new tower in East London. The article raises interesting questions about the finances involved in the creation of public art. Also based on the photographs of the tower I agree with Douglas Murphy's assessment that it lacks the magic of Kapoor's best work, which is a shame considering what an enormous and costly thing it is.

D - Your breadth of knowledge and interest is inspiring to me. Sadly, I know nothing about Anish Kapoor, but Kelly Kapoor, that's more my speed. Which reminds me that I wanted to tell you that I went and checked out Mindy Kaling's book that you read a while back from the Library a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I couldn't stop laughing when she told about falling off the diving board, and it was fun to think of her as a teeny-bopper going around the places that we went to near Boston (or could have gone to if I were cool and didn't just hang out on campus all the time). Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm so glad you liked the book. I'll take a good laugh with Kelly Kapoor any day over some boring work of public art :)
