Pricey Eats

I just read this biography of Grant Achatz the chef of Alinea in Chicago. It was a really interesting look inside one of the best restaurants in the US, though reading about incredible food did cause me to constantly bemoan my non dairy and soy diet. I'm sure that delicious vegan food exists, I just don't have much knowledge about it so I've ended up eating a lot of steamed veggies and rice, ie the most boring food known to man.

Wow, you read a lot! You inspire me to read more. The last book I read was Bossypants last September. Well, and then there's the cookbook I read the other day. I'm so obsessed with America's Test Kitchen. Steamed veggies are nice, but you gots to try starting out with onions sauteed in olive oil. Add a dash of salt, then minced garlic, then add the veggies in the order that the need to cook (tough vegetables first, soft ones later). Then put it on rice that's been cooked in dairy/soy free chicken broth. I need to send you recipes...right...now!
